Are you looking to find the right type of body lotion in Singapore? Or are you interested in knowing how a particular body lotion will work on your skin? Well, depending on the ingredients and chemical composition, various body lotions work differently and have different effects.

Cosmetics are usually made of various combinations of chemicals, and not all body lotions suit everyone. Sometimes, some body lotions or lipsticks can cause allergic reactions when applied to the skin or lips, so it is necessary to know about a few things before choosing a product.

If you know that lipsticks suit your skin type, it becomes easier for you to buy any Gucci lipstick in Singapore, as there are various options available.

How do Body Lotions work on Your Skin?

The main objective of body lotions is to keep your skin hydrated. While the skin has three layers, body lotions are only applied to the outer layer.

Dry, cracked, and flaky skin occurs usually in the winter when humidity and moisture in the air fall too low levels. As the skin loses water faster than it can replenish, it gets dehydrated, which leads to transepidermal water loss, or TEWL.

Body lotions work in two ways: they either restore the moisture that your skin has lost over time or they provide a layer of protection to minimize the amount of moisture lost from your skin. The most prominent body lotion in Singapore gives you the best protection for your skin’s overall health by having the right composition.

With so many options on the market, three types of moisturizers can be identified :

1. Occlusives

They are pretty common and are also pretty effective in reducing the TEWL by up to 98%. They are one of the first types of moisturizers to have been introduced on the market. They are usually waxes, oils, or silicones that work by trapping moisture in the skin by forming a layer over it. Although they do their job well, they are sticky, messy, and not very aesthetically pleasing. They repel water and are thus hydrophobic.

2. Humectants

These types of moisturizers work by attracting moisture to the skin and preventing it from escaping. They attract water due to the presence of hydroxyl groups in their chemical structure. Humectants work by penetrating the outer layer of skin, attracting water towards the skin, and locking it in, keeping the skin moist and hydrated. But excessive use of humectants in dry conditions can cause even more dryness as they may absorb moisture from the underlayers of the skin too.

3. Emollients

Emollients are usually found in the form of creams, lotions, ointments, and gels. They penetrate the skin, making it softer and more flexible. They have a similar composition to that of occlusives, which repel water but work in a little different way. Emollients restore moisture and keep the skin smooth by filling out gaps in the skin that are formed when the skin turns dry.

4. What do lipsticks contain?

We've moved on from finding the best lotion to investigating what goes into making lipstick. The most popular Gucci lipstick in Singapore is also popular all over the world.

But what these lip products contain is also something that one should be wary of. Lipsticks contain a mixture of waxes, emollients, oils, and pigments. They come in a variety of forms and vary in textures, colors, shimmers, glosses, and more.

Waxes are used to give the lipstick its shape; the most commonly used waxes are beeswax and carnuba wax. The oils provide the lipstick with its gloss and shine. Usually, oils like olive oil, castor oil, mineral oil, etc. are used. Recently, moisturizers like aloe vera and Vitamin E are also being used in lipsticks.

From finding the right body lotion in Singapore to choosing the right type of lipstick, there are a sea of options that one can choose from, and although finding the perfect product can be hard, it certainly isn’t impossible.
